Abstract
This research explores the manifestation and significance of historical intertextuality in the poetic works of Fadwa Tuqan, a renowned Palestinian poet. The study delves into the concept of intertextuality, its origins, and its prevalence in Arab critical practice, providing a comprehensive understanding of the theoretical framework. The research is structured into two chapters, each comprising two sections. The first chapter discusses the concept of intertextuality, its backgrounds, and the reasons for its widespread use in Arab critical practice. The second chapter focuses on historical intertextuality in Tuqan's poetic experience, examining her relationship with modernity and conducting an in-depth analysis of her complete poetic oeuvre. The findings reveal that Tuqan strategically selects vibrant situations and influential figures that resonate within the collective memory, enriching her texts with semantic depth and establishing connections to Arab and human culture. The research highlights the evolution of Tuqan's approach to intertextuality, transitioning from spontaneity to intentionality in her later works. Notably, the historical intertextuality in Tuqan's poetry is seamlessly integrated, reflecting her ability to absorb and synthesize diverse cultural elements while crafting her own unique poetic voice. The study concludes that Tuqan's skillful incorporation of historical heritage, events, and characters adds richness and depth to her poetic texts. Her ability to dissolve historical intertextuality into her own work demonstrates her mastery in assimilating and transforming other cultures to create her distinctive poetic expressions. This research contributes to the understanding of Tuqan's poetic techniques and sheds light on the significance of historical intertextuality in Palestinian poetry.
