Abstract

Shakib Arslan's visit to Morocco, specifically to the  city of Tetouan, in the thirties of the last century, was of historical importance, as he was considered the spiritual and inspiring father of the national movement in Morocco. The visit was also considered as a conference to lay the main foundations and a joint action program against the French, based on the struggle against the Barbarian Law.

The Moroccans devoted a day to this visit to celebrate it every five years, as a turning point in the history of their national movement. Arslan also used the media to introduc the Moroccan issue in international forums, especially his magazine "The Arab Nation", in addition to his articles in Al-Fath, Al-Shura and Al-Manar .

The efforts of Prince Shakib helped the National Movement to maintain its Islamic orientation, which was the basis of its inception.

Prince Arsalan started his journey to Tetouan Passing through Spain and Tangiers, where he received a warm and patriotic reception, in which delegations from all over Morocco participated.

Shakib Arslan's visit caused tension in French-Spanish relations in Morocco. France protested through its consul in Tetouan against the Spanish High Commissioner's reception of the Emir, as France was aware of the danger of this visit to its colonial future in Morocco, as several demonstrations took place on the French side, which resulted in the emergence of Party work in Morocco for the first time. The Prince, also recruited the press abroad to expose French abuses in Morocco.
