A Study of Sociocultural Commonalities

The dilemma of the current research can be summed up in a fundamental question; What are the sociocultural commonalities related to magic that bring together the Egyptian and Yemeni peoples? However, the research deals with magic not from the perspective of studying the current beliefs and practices of the two peoples; Rather, through identifying the historical magic myth at the two peoples. This required, at the outset, introducing the views of sociologists with an emphasis on their interest in studying magic since ancient times. Ibn Khaldun paid attention to magic, and it captured the attention of anthropologists as well, while many sociologists differentiated between magic and religion. Sociologists also paid attention to the study of myths, which is the second point singled out for study in this research. The third point is about the Egyptian-Yemeni commonalities that were formed by geographic factors and deepened as a result of the common history between the two countries, which justifies the similarity between the two peoples with regard to the myth of magic; which represents the fourth and final point in the research; titled the myth of magic between the Egyptians and the Yemenis. The research relied on the historical approach and the comparative approach to achieve its objectives.
